3rd Century Ogham Stone at Church of Kilmalkedar, County Kerry. Evidence that the church was built on a pre-Christian holy site, this ogham burial stone predates the church by 900 years. Ogham is a pre-Christian notch-based script. The hole was used to seal contracts. Joining thumbs through the hole and standing on the bones of ancestors, people sealed their vows.
Out of the Blue Restaurant, Dingle, County Kerry. It may not appear so, but Out of the Blue may well be the world's best seafood restaurant. If due to bad weather the fishing boats were unable to leave the docks across the street on the previous night, the restaurant will be closed because there is no fresh fish to serve!
